内容目录

Threaded rods are easy to quote incorrectly when the RFQ is too short. A request like “M12 threaded rod, zinc plated, 1,000 pcs” may look clear, but it still leaves several questions open.

Is it metric coarse or fine thread? Full 1-meter rods or cut-to-length pieces? Carbon steel or stainless steel? Class 4.8, 8.8, 10.9, or ASTM grade? Zinc plated or hot-dip galvanized?

For buyers, a complete RFQ saves time and prevents wrong production.

Why Threaded Rod RFQs Need Detail

Threaded rods are used in construction, pipe supports, machinery, solar mounting, anchors, and industrial suspension systems. The same diameter can serve very different load and environment requirements.

Buyers can review the wider fastener products range when matching threaded rods with nuts, washers, anchors, or custom parts.

Basic RFQ Information

RFQ ItemWhat to SpecifyWhy It Matters
SizeDiameter, thread pitch, and lengthControls fit and assembly
StandardDIN, ISO, ASTM, ANSI, or drawingDefines dimensional requirements
Grade4.8, 8.8, 10.9, B7, A2-70, etc.Controls strength
MaterialCarbon steel, alloy steel, 304, 316Affects load and corrosion resistance
FinishZinc plated, HDG, black oxide, plainAffects corrosion and thread fit
QuantityPieces, bundles, or total lengthAffects price and production planning
PackagingBundle, carton, pallet, labelSupports export and warehouse control

Size: More Than Diameter

Threaded rod size should include diameter, pitch, and length. For metric rods, do not write only “M16.” Confirm whether it is M16 × 2.0 or a fine thread requirement.

Key Size Details

  • Nominal diameter
  • Thread pitch
  • Rod length
  • Cut-to-length requirement
  • Thread tolerance if required
  • Matching nut specification

If the rod must be cut to special lengths, consider custom non-standard fasteners.

Grade and Material Selection

Grade and material should follow the load and working environment.

ApplicationCommon Direction
Light suspensionCarbon steel, low or medium strength
General constructionZinc plated or galvanized carbon steel
Heavy-duty assembly8.8, 10.9, or alloy steel
Flange or pressure equipmentASTM A193 B7 or project-specified grade
Marine or chemical useStainless steel 316 or special material

For load-critical applications, check high-strength fasteners. For corrosion-sensitive projects, compare stainless steel fasteners and coated fasteners.

Finish: Confirm the Exact Requirement

“Galvanized” is often unclear. It may mean zinc plated or hot-dip galvanized. These finishes differ in coating thickness, corrosion resistance, appearance, and thread fit.

For hot-dip galvanized threaded rods, always confirm nut fit after coating.

Final RFQ Checklist

Before sending an inquiry, include:

  1. Diameter, pitch, and length
  2. Standard or drawing
  3. Material and grade
  4. Surface finish
  5. Matching nuts and washers
  6. Application environment
  7. Quantity and packaging
  8. Required certificates or inspection reports

A clear threaded rod RFQ helps the supplier quote faster, choose the right process, and deliver parts that fit the job the first time.
